From Concept to Reality

Jim Olson Construction and Theme Design

"Jim Olson is a General Contractor with a passion for Theme Design."

Jim Olson Construction and Theme Design.

Theme Design Construction ~ a construction style found in
amusement parks, casinos, or on a movie studio lot.

Jim Olson is a talented, licensed, bonded, General Contractor with a crew of experienced employees that have worked with him for a long time. Jim and his company can take on your whole job. Starting with your concept, Jim has Architects, Designers and Consultants available to make the proper plans and paperwork to visualize the job before the construction begins. Once the plans have been completed and submitted for City approval, the work begins. During construction, Jim has craftsmen ready to complete the work at hand, Foremen, Carpenters, Plumbers, Plasterers, Painters. No details forgotten, all work expertly done. Your home or business will transform from your concept into reality.

With Jim Olson Construction, the sky really is the limit. Jim has built a football helmet into a house and made that room into a sports entertainment center. Jim has made beautiful fountains and waterfalls. Jim has made strong retaining walls. One themed designed house was turned into an Egyptian Palace with columns and a chariot bar. Jim has also rebuilt facades on a studio lot, custom making every window and door. Imagine what you want and Jim Olson will make it happen.

Jim Olson is among only a handful of contractors who can bid on a job and actually work directly on a movie studio lot. He can do this type of on-lot work because he is respected, bonded and carries the appropriate insurance. Many of the people on Jim's crew will also work for the studios when they aren't working for Jim. Jim and his crew carry experience, respect and their good names on to every job. The studios trust that Jim's work will be completed correctly and on time. Jim understands how important their schedule is to them. This is why they keep calling him back.

Recently, Jim took responsibility of 126 of the world's most precious Egyptian artifacts during the King Tutankhaman Exhibition in Los Angeles, CA. Jim's part was Construction Supervisor which made him responsible for construction permits, coordinating with Egyptian security, set fabrication, crew management, completing fire and building certifications with the proper authorities and project forecasts. Jim was part of the on-air and off-air crew of Discovery Channel's successful "Monster House". Jim was involved in many of the show's episodes from October 2003 to January 2005. His responsibilities included pulling building permits, forecasting labor hours, maintaining the budget, hiring and scheduling sub-contractors and maintaining relationships with product placement vendors. Ultimately, Jim's responsibilities on this job were to the homeowners, to provide a safe, up to code re-model, to the builders for a well designed project that is not only unique, but achievable, and to Original Productions to provide a safe filming environment that ensures adequate footage necessary to produce the show.

Jim does work for Universal Studios, building or repairing sets in and around the theme park and participating in live Halloween productions. Jim worked for NBC Studios during the 2002 Winter Olympics. He was a Production Manager who re-designed and re-furbished studios for NBC from Sidney, Australia to Sun Valley, CA. Jim traveled around the world for Lexington Scenery and Props as a Construction Forman, fabricating theme park attractions and casino and museum themed designed sets. Jim has even built a block retaining wall for one of his own neighbors.
